Charcoal And Bright Stripes – Softer Than Black

I’m a lover of any kind of stripey Top, Bretton or T-shirt This bright coloured striped one caught my eye. Looking in the wardrobe, all of my stripe tops are duo coloured stripes and thought this would make a nice change

This is the second edit for the fabulous Peacocks brand that has surprised me with their price v quality this year. I wrote about the dress and top a few weeks back and can report that it’s still as good as new and in one piece, and unlike other bargain brands that I’ve tried The peacocks quality has stayed good.

This is the second faux suede biker to enter my wardrobe. I love how fluid they are, comfortable and they wash very well in the machine! I think I can safely say it’s time to put away the big winter coats or is that wishful thinking?I love the colour of this biker, it’s dark but not black. It’s called charcoal but there’s a tiny hint of purple shining through I think.

The biker has a super soft feel and I think the colour works well with the stripes

We took these photos at a country lane in Essex and on my visit there I had forgotten my watch. Anyone else feel lost without one? I borrowed Sara’s chunky Micheal Kors and didn’t want to give it back!

I’ve paired the outfit with the sock boots from Peacocks that I chose last year. These were such a bargain and one thing I will say is that the clothing and shoes sell out very quickly online. I posted the dress on the blog a few weeks ago and it’s gone already, so you have to be quick

Can you just flatten that hair down?

1. Charcoal Suedette Biker
In a charcoal grey suedette fabric with long sleeves, a belted waist and a zip front plus silver metal detailing, it's perfect for layering.
2. Alexa Jeans
faded black with a skinny fit, front and back pockets and belt loops, they can be dressed up or down with ease.
3.  Multicolour Stripe Ribbed Top
In a multicolour striped fabric with long sleeves and a rounded neckline, it's perfect for casualwear.

Yes. It was a big hair day! A blow of the wind and I look like a sheepdog! Dee often advises on the little features when taking photos but I liked how this shot came out. I will add though, that a couple of inches has been chopped off of the hair since these photos!

The jeans are soft brushed denim and I’m pleased with the fit. A washed out Black, I would describe them as Charcoal, and a perfect match for the biker.

I’ve been meaning to ask if you like to browse via the lookbook ( the numbered circles?) Do you find it easier? But getting back to the jeans which are fab for only £16.00. I will report back at some point on how they wear and wash. They come true to size in my opinion and there are regular and short lengths available too.

I’m wearing regular and have just turned them slightly. I might try the short length next time but I always find I’m an in-between length.

I’m enjoying finding different places to take photos in Essex. It’s just so much more countryfied than at home in London. It makes a nice change and I love discovering little hidden roads like this and it’s a lot quieter than at home.

I like the bright colours in the striped top. It’s a ribbed material, so it’s comfortable and not restricting in any way. It will work well with the Mustard coloured faux suede biker that I have too.

So I’d like to hear your thoughts on buying from more reasonably priced brands. Do you prefer to spend more money and buy less or do you like to bargain shop? I would say I’m a bit of both and I love to find a good sale buy.

I love faux suede biker jackets, they’re so comfortable. My mum liked mine so much I bought her one for Christmas. The striped top is fab too. I’m like you, I buy a mixture of budget and higher end pieces. If the quality is good I’m not snobby about where it came from! Thanks for linking up!

Aw, that’s so kind of you to say that Jodie. We all get bored with our own hair though I think and always want the opposite to what we have! xx

This is a great look Laurie, very laid back but still smart. I think charcoal is a great option for the jacket too, its a bit softer than a black one isnt it. Im so pale that black can wash me out a bit sometimes. Thanks for sharing xx

A great outfit on you, Laurie! I’m loving the striped top and that charcoal biker is divine. And machine washable, how great is that? I can’t live without a watch and the clock I was wearing stopped when I was at work last week, I had to go out during lunch break to buy a new one. Lovely countryside photos! xxx

Haha! This is about as cool as I get Alison! Just cut a few inches off the hair too! xx

Great look, Laurie. I’m a fan of Peacocks for jeans too and they’re good for an affordable toe in the water on a new trend too.
I love your wind-blown vuluminous hair, I would love to have your amount of flowing locks!

It’s funny. I hated these photos because of my hair Mary! I’ve had a few comments about it here but have since had a few inches cut off! xx

  13. April 5, 2019 / 10:50 pm

Love the colour your striped top adds to the outfit with the darker shades, it’s a nice subtle touch! That’s a lovely moto jacket too! I’ve been looking at a blush suede one in store here but I knot it’s not a good idea with toddlers. I still want it though, haha!

Hope you have a lovely weekend ahead of you πŸ™‚ Another busy one here!

Thanks Mica. They wash well and dry really quickly. You should take the risk! xx

  14. April 5, 2019 / 11:35 am

The charcoal is definitely a great option instead of black and for those who don’t like navy blue. Cute stripy top too. I still buy cheaply from places like Asos but I also try to balance it with charity shop finds x

I’m just starting to delve into Asos Gail. Late to the party! But I’m super impressed with the Peacocks quality xx

What a beautiful backdrop! You look so relaxed in your photos. My hair is naturally curly, so I frequently have the ‘sheep dog’ look. πŸ˜‰ The shirt is very striking color combo. I really like the primary colors of the stripes mixed with black. It looks great with grey. -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
