Tired of being tired. Trying a new remedy

Yes. I’m still going on about being more tired than normal! I just can’t put my finger on it, why I’m feeling so tired.

After having good results from that blood test that I spoke about a couple of weeks ago. I went to my Gp who ran some regular blood tests to check if all was ok and yes, they were ok.

I have however seemed to have had a cold on and off since Christmas. That’s nearly three months! I’m wondering if it’s just that?

I was, however, lucky to be contacted by Future You. They spoke with me about their Magnesium supplements. I didn’t realise that magnesium could give you a boost.

I decided to give Future You’s Magnesium a try to see if I could combat being tired.

On receiving the tablets, it states that they’re a supplement, like a food supplement but I didn’t notice any difference there. I was sent two packets (58 tablets) to review and was told it can take some time to take effect.

Do you get tired around 4pm? The 4 o’clock slump

I got into around the seventh day and at around four pm I didn’t feel so drained. I always feel tired around that time. Sometimes I even have a doze if it’s possible.

And that’s the way it’s stayed for me. I’m not getting as tired around the four o clock time so there is a slight difference. I’m also trying to get in bed an hour earlier and getting up at my regular time of 6 am.

I’ve always gone to bed at around 11-11.30 and got up for 6 am but just lately I’m turning my alarm off in my sleep! It’s so irritating and I feel robbed of time! But I’m now getting up at 6 am again. So there is definitely a little progress

I have twelve tablets left. They’ve put a little spring in my step during that mid-afternoon slump. I was sent two packs and each has a 28 day supply.

Looking at the reviews online, some people have seen little effect from taking Magnesium yet there are others that have seen a huge difference. We are all made differently I guess

Future you has many supplements to try, and the site is worth looking at. I’m thinking about trying Vitamin D too. A boost of that might make the difference. Especially after our poor weather this winter!

    I didn’t realise that about magnesium either, glad to hear it’s helped. The doc gave me Vitamin D last year and it really helped, though I did think I was going to rattle with the number of pills! Thanks for joining us at #PoCoLo

    When you say you’ve had a cold since Christmas, I’m wondering if your developing some allergies. That’s how my allergies looked at first – a cold that never went away. And they do make you tired.

    I am glad the magnesium has helped a bit.

    I definitely get that late afternoon slump as well. I just want to lie down and take a nap but it’s too late in the day and I must push through. I have found that Vitamin B supplements have also worked to reduce the late afternoon tiredness. I may look into magnesium as well. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Laurie.     Interesting post! I think I feel more tired just because of the time of year it is right now. I am ready for some warm, spring sunshine and flowers. The cold, gray days make me tired.

      Hi Laurie. Yes. I’ve been thinking the same. I’m wondering if I’m suffering from S.A.D syndrome. I have to admit the dark, grey days and all the rain has really got to me this year. I literally watch the time that sunset is every day and feel better as it gets later. We just need some brightness I guess! xx

    I never would have thought of trying magnesium supplements. What a great idea. I am always tired lately but I am not sleeping well and I know I have problems with low iron so I’m pretty sure that’s where my problems lie.

    I take magnesium because I kept getting leg cramps and I read that was a sign of low magnesium.

      Hi Patricia. I was getting foot cramps too and I’ve never suffered with cramp. I haven’t had them recently so that’s interesting. I didn’ realise that that’s a condition of low magnesium xx

    I am glad for some improvements. I hope that lingering cold does go away! I can definitely tell a difference on how I react to later nights now that I am in my mid 40s.

    I use a magnesium spray for my bad back. Magnesium is also absorbed through the skin . Yes i agree it is a beneficial mineral to me too.

    I’ve had a cough since the bushfires started – I assumed from the smoke and ash but 4 months later (and leaving the country for a bit) and I’m still coughing. Just had a CT scan to make sure it’s not anything nasty. If I’m tired, I try to up vegetables (have some at breakfast as well as other meals) and increase exercise…might investigate magnesium #AnythingGoes

    It’s great that these are working for you! I have a multi vitamin with magnesium in it but I so often forget to take it, haha!

    That is not much sleep! But I am happy for you that the magnesium helps a little. There is nothing as frustrating as fatigue. Happy Sunday Laurie!

      I used to sleep less and was so much livelier only just a couple of years ago Nancy. I have to accept that I’m getting older I guess! xx

    I’ve been on magnesium now for years – it’s great stuff!! You can also get it in a cream and an oil and rub directly into your skin for great absorption. I’m glad that you’re trying a couple of different approaches and sharing them here … the Vitamin D can definitely be a thing too!!     If you’ve been having a cold on and off since Christmas it’s worth considering that you may need an anti-histamine tablet. Building work can lead to more dust etc which may be a factor. You can buy it over the counter very cheaply but you can also visit the doctor. Sinus blocking can make you tired so if there’s a bit of problem then it likewise makes you tired because you’re body is fighting it. Hence people often get their energy back once the fight is over. It’s also normal to be more tired given our climate – it takes a little more effort and energy to deal with the cold, etc.

    It’s worth considering and speaking to your GP

    If you need a vitamin – it’s most likely to be vitamin D.

    If you’re getting cramps then definitely magnesium helps.

    As it’s made little or no difference I don’t think magnesium is your problem.

      Hi Meg. Thanks for your advice here and taking the time to reply. I suffer from allergies and I know it’s not that. I do however keep getting cramp in my feet. Actually thinking about it, it’s not been so bad the last couple of weeks. A high dose of vitamin D is the next vitamin I will try.
